Profile

After attending Loyola University and graduating from DePaul Law School in 1988, I joined the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office as a prosecutor. I was initially assigned to the traffic division where I learned to prosecute all types of traffic related offenses. After trying hundreds of D.U.I‘s, I was given the responsibility to be lead attorney in all jury trials prosecuted on the jury call of the traffic division. Years later, I was selected and honored to return to the traffic division as a trial specialist, where I helped train and supervise young prosecutors as they began their careers.

I then proceeded to the juvenile division, where I prosecuted hundreds of felony and misdemeanor offenses involving juvenile offenders and cases involving the abuse and neglect of children.

My next assignment was perhaps the most valuable and beneficial in preparing me as a criminal defense attorney. While in the felony review unit of the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office I worked exclusively and closely with police detectives in their investigation of all violent crimes including murder, sexual assaults, gang-related shootings, drug investigations, and all property crimes. I learned their investigative methods, procedures, and interrogation techniques used in obtaining confessions from suspects.

This experience is invaluable in protecting my current clients from unknowingly incriminating themselves when they are the targets of a criminal investigation and gives me tremendous insight into how to challenge the prosecution’s evidence and cross examine their witnesses.

After an assignment involving the prosecution of all types of narcotics-related offenses, I concluded my career as a prosecutor in the felony trial division where I tried every type of criminal case including all forcible felonies, dozens of murders, sexual assaults, and property crimes.

In 1998, I set up my own law office and I now concentrate my efforts in defending those who have been accused of crimes in the state courts of Cook, Will, Lake, and DuPage Counties and throughout the state of Illinois.

While every case is different and no lawyer can or should promise you a specific outcome, I do promise that I will aggressively defend you and your rights, and give you honest, realistic answers to your questions and provide an aggressive defense.
